Introducing Sahra

Hi my name is Sahra Camberos. I am 21 years old and work at In-N-Out. My dad picked out my name since he heard the song 'Sarah" by Jefferson Plane and then after he chose it he jumbled the letters round to get my spelling. Its also a very popular spelling in Africa. In fact my friend went to Africa over the summer and saw hotels named "Sahra". Pretty cool. I went to Elementary school in Valencia California, grades k-2nd. Then when i was in 3rd grade my family moved out to Temecula California and I attended 3-12th grade there. I graduated from Temecula Valley High School. After I graduated I went on to Mt. San Jacinto Community College for 3 years and after that came here. This is my 2nd semester at CSUSM.
I still remember the dial up connection days. It would have been my 6th grade year. It wasn't really until college that I started getting the hang of the computer. Before it would technology just seemed way too much for me to handle so I avoided it. But once I got a Myspace and a facebook I was literally on  it all day long. No lie. I've only ever used PC's. Most of my friends have MACs and I find them fastinating from a distance. I've never had enough courage to mess around on one. But I am eager to learn.
"We are committed to
diversity, educational equity, and social justice, exemplified through reflective teaching, life-long
learning, innovative research, and ongoing service." This line from the Mission Statement of the college speaks volumes for me. My goal in teaching is to take my skills outside of our country and give other countries children the privledges I have recieved here in America. It doesn't matter what race or background one has, education should be free to all who wish to learn. I actually had not read the statement when applying to this school.

I've never touched a MAC either before they intimidate me, too much technology for me :) but I definitely want to use one!

  4. Sahra - Beautiful name if I do say so myself! :) I commend you on wanting to take your skills outside of the country! Where would you like to teach specifically? And In N Out is my favorite fast food! Besides great food, I love that they print scripture on the bottom of their cups. And as for only using a PC: don't stress it too much because MACs are pretty easy to use as well.

  5. Hey Sahra,
Its funny that there's 3 saras in this class and we all spell it differently. How cool is that. I don't think I have ever seen it spelled like that and I like it. My parents tell me that they got my name from that song also which is pretty interesting.
I'm also used to PC's and have never used a MAC so im kind of excited to learn how to use one.

  7. It really is amazing how far we have come in this day and age with technology. I remember having dial up. Every year it seems there is something new. I remember thinking it would be so cool to share music with other people and creating your own kind of radio. Guess what? Pandora is out and seemingly answered my prayers haha. Btw, your name is spelt in the coolest way ever. It's so different. My name is so common and plain lol. Enjoy your uniqueness.
